b'ARTIST STATEMENTIn this series I am more closely investigating theoverlap between my two streams of works andspecifically in terms of identity and chance. I continueto be interested in understanding points of change inmy abstractions, within the painting process - topinpoint exactly when less considered marks cometogether and change from something of a mess tosomething more resolved, but allowing chance tocontrol this.I have always been obsessive about order and thedegree to which we are all challenged in our dailylives between it and mess. Both the big picture andsmall detail of that draws me in.In my figurative works these themes continue inrelation to my life and travels, and my art career. I ampainting the moment when a part of my life becomesmore understandable, less entangled or messy, andbeing aware of the role chance played in thesemoments. A lot of these moments of course happenduring travels or outside our daily momentum.Waldemar Kolbusz, 2020Director Marita Smith says: "The raw expression inKolbusz\' work commands your attention andimportantly, holds it. His vibrant, saturated palette, and the frisson he generates through audaciousapplication of paint is both exhilarating andcompelling to audiences everywhere. I love that hisworks transcend clearly defined artistic genres soseamlessly, and this confidence results in his workbeing sought-after and extremely collectible."'
