"Sie Kommen" is one of the most iconic Newton images. It adorned his exhibitions in near life-size, providing a sculptural statement of Newton's fascination for strong yet beautiful woman. Life-sized versions of this photograph featured in Newton's "Private Property" Exhibitions in London and Paris and both of the pair, naked and dressed, photographs appear in Newton's famous book, Sumo, as well as several others.
Printed before 1984, this vintage photograph was one of several that Newton gave or sold to friends and acquaintances. Most were discarded or destroyed over time. This particular picture was given to an acquaintance in France around the time of Newtons Private Property Exhibitions.
Helmut Newton (1920-2004) was a prolific fashion photographer, widely recognised as one of the most collectable and prominent photographers ever to hold a camera. Dubbed the 'King of Kink', his erotically charged imagery was provocative as it was masterful in its compositional and narrative direction.
